This is the visual template I used to present our AI Opportunity Roadmap to the Board a few years ago, and the feedback was fantastic.

As promised in my previous “AI Value” post, you can use it to answer the question: How do you move from "what's possible" to "what's practical and profitable"?

I used this visual framework to map our opportunities. It provided the clarity the executives needed to understand our implementation strategy and projected business impact. Note that the opportunities mentioned in the diagram are my personal opinion only.

The Bullseye is Key

The center of the circle is where you want to be. The closer to the "Bullseye," the higher the feasibility (People, Process, Tech, Data) and the more immediate the business impact.

⚖️ Balancing the Portfolio: We mapped initiatives across two critical axes:

Vertical

Internal Operations vs. External Customer-Facing. Are we driving back-office efficiency (Operations, HR, Finance) or enhancing the customer experience (Sales/Marketing, Product)?

Horizontal

Everyday AI vs. Game-Changing AI. Are we looking at incremental employee value and efficiency, or strategic, ROI-driving transformation?

The board especially appreciated seeing the holistic view and how we are balancing everyday internal efficiencies with game-changing external customer-facing value propositions.

Tip: You can adjust the size of the dots to indicate the financial/strategic impact of each initiative.

A complex strategy doesn't need a complex presentation. Sometimes a clear diagram is all you need to align the room.
